Look What We Did in 2012: Active Play

Creating a positive, loving environment and making the school a happy place to learn has always been a challenge to all early childhood educators. These two important points are our goals when planning out the kids’ activities to meet the objectives in our preschool curriculum. And when it comes to kids, we believe that the best way to have fun while learning is through PLAY! Let’s take a peek at some of the “PLAY = Learn” activities at Alif Ceria this year:

GrainsPLAY = Textures & Hand-eye Coordination
StrawPLAY = Hand-Eye Coordination & Construction
SandPLAY = Sensorial & Measuring
StickyboardPLAY = Imagination
BoxPLAY = Measuring & Construction
Do it yourself-PLAY = Coordination
WaterPLAY = Phonics
Do it yourself-PLAY = Food Nutrition
MindMapPLAY = Creative Thinking

KitchenPLAY = Listening Skills (Following instructions)
KitchenPLAY = Practical Life Skills
ManipulativePlay = Patterning

PretendPLAY = Imagination (“Where would you like to go?” asked the driver)
BubblewrapPLAY = Sensorial

Opps.. where are the books? Does that mean our kids are not learning at school? What do you think is the answer? 🙂

Look what we did today: Gardening!

July is the healthy, green vegetables month. We learned that:

  1. There are many kind of vegetables.
  2. Vegetables come in many shapes, sizes and colours.
  3. We can buy fresh, canned or frozen vegetables.
  4. Vegetables have different names.
  5. Vegetables can be eaten raw or cooked.
  6. Vegetable is good for our body.
  7. Vegetables need water and sunlight to grow.

And it’s time to grow our own vegetables!

We are ready teachers!

We even got to make our own fruit juices.

Kids go green!

It is not too early to start teaching the children to help in saving mother earth. March theme is about ‘My House’,and in conjunction with the theme, the children are introduced to many things in the house that can be recycled, reused and reduced!

We started with creating our own recycling bins ~ made from recycled boxes and pictures cut from recycled hypermarket flyers. Blue box for paper, orange box for plastic and brown box for aluminum cans and glasses.

Then we colour the 3R logo using stencil art.

And we also made recycle papers from recycle newspapers.

We got to build the tallest building using recycle boxes.

Counting while waiting for the building to collapse

.

This one lasted until 10 only before someone blow it. 🙂

This one lasted until 64 before someone give it a kick. 🙂

And this is the most stable one, lasted for about count of 220…. well, the collapsed building give such a joy, someone needs to make it collapsed anyway.

Happy recycling everyone!
